On Tuesday, a man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in Perris.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 10:15 a.m. on northbound Interstate 215, north of Nuevo Road. The early reports showed that the man stopped an International box truck on the right shoulder to refill the radiator. A companion riding with him helped him.
As the victim tried to secure the hood latch on the driver’s side after topping off the radiator, a Toyota Tacoma approached in the slow lane. The Toyota swerved onto the shoulder, crashed into the International box truck and the hit man. The man died of his injuries at the scene. The other man and the pickup driver remained unharmed in the accident.
Officials believe that alcohol was not involved in the accident. Investigators questioned the driver but did not make any arrests. The No. 3 lane on northbound I-215 was closed until about noon as crews worked at the scene. No other details are made available.
The incident remains under investigation.
