A man lost his life after being hit by a vehicle Saturday in La Mesa.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at around 10:35 p.m. on University Avenue near 70th Street. The preliminary reports showed that the man was trying to cross University Avenue when he was struck by a Volkswagen Jetta driven by a man.
The driver immediately stopped and called 911 for help. Responders arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but the man died of his injuries. The driver cooperated with the investigators. Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be involved on the part of the driver. The motorist is not expected to face charges in the case. No other details are available.
The incident remains under investigation.
