A man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle early Monday morning on the Pomona (60) Freeway in South El Monte.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision was reported at 2:45 a.m. on the eastbound 60 Freeway near Santa Anita Boulevard. The driver, identified as 50-year-old Yolanda Vick of Hemet, incurred a minor injury and was treated at a hospital.
She was not detained. The early reports showed that Vick was driving a 2016 Toyota RAV4 east in the No. 1 lane when the incident happened. It was further reported that the man was wearing dark clothing and there was darkness in the area, due to which Miss Vick did not see the pedestrian and hit him.
A SigAlert was announced closing down lanes 1, 2 and 3 at 3 a.m. and it was canceled at 4:45 a.m. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
