Man dead after an auto-pedestrian collision in SE Houston (Houston, TX)

On Wednesday morning, a construction worker lost his life after being hit by a vehicle in SE Houston.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place in the 10600 block of Fuqua at Beamer at about 9:30 a.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that a contract worker was placing safety cones around his trailer to close an eastbound lane of traffic.

Just then, the driver of Honda Odyssey van changed lanes to avoid the blockage, and unintentionally hit the worker. Eyewitnesses informed the responders that the victim was probably frightened by the vehicle and jumped into the roadway.

The man suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The driver remained unharmed in the accident. Officials found out that the driver was not impaired, and released him after questioning. No other details are made available.
