On Wednesday morning, a man lost his life following a two-vehicle collision on the South Side.
As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash took place on Highway 16 at Southwest Loop 410, not far from Palo Alto College. The early reports showed that the 41-year-old male motorcyclist attempted to beat the light that had turned red on the northbound lanes of Highway 16.
At some point of time, the motorcycle ran into the side of a big rig that was turning left from the Loop 410 access road to Highway 16. The motorcycle became stuck under the truck and the rider was dragged through the intersection. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The underpass at Highway 16 and Loop 410 was shut down in both directions as crews worked at the scene, but it has since reopened. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
