Male pedestrian dead after a hit-and-run crash in Oakland (Oakland, CA)

A male pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Oakland.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place just after 10 p.m. along Bancroft Avenue near 61st Avenue. The preliminary reports showed that a vehicle hit the pedestrian and fled the scene. On arrival, first responders found a pedestrian lying in the roadway in the westbound lane of traffic on Bancroft.

A silver or white pickup was seen heading westbound immediately after the incident. The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. The victim, a man in his 60s, was not immediately identified. It is unknown if alcohol and drugs contributed to the collision. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
