Male pedestrian dead after a hit-and-run collision in Lancaster (Lancaster, CA)

A male pedestrian lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle late Saturday night in Lancaster.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run collision took place on Avenue I near 7th Street East at about 9:40 p.m. The preliminary reports showed that the man was crossing Avenue I near 7th Street East, outside of a crosswalk. At that time, a vehicle heading eastbound on Avenue I hit the man while he was in the road.

The vehicle, believed to be some kind of Honda or Nissan based on the vehicle parts left behind, then left the scene. The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. It is currently unknown if speed, alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. No further details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
