A 46-year-old Lebanon man suffered minor injuries after his car collided with a freight train on Rail Road, about half a mile south of Highway JJ in Laclede County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's preliminary online crash report.

The patrol said the crash happened at 3:27 p.m. on Aug. 17, 2026. A 2016 Kia Forte was traveling southbound on Rail Road when it collided with a Burlington Northern General Electric Dash 9-44CW locomotive that was moving eastbound through the area, the report states.

The driver of the Kia sustained minor injuries in the collision, according to the patrol. No fatalities were reported, and the report lists two vehicles — the car and the locomotive — as involved in the crash.

Troopers with Troop I responded to the scene and documented the crash under incident number 260348640, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

No additional details about the cause of the collision or further conditions at the crossing were included in the preliminary report.
