Late-night crash killed a woman in Gilbert (Gilbert, AZ)


Gilbert police are looking into a late-night crash that claimed life of a woman on Saturday.

According to Gilbert PD, the collision took place at 11 p.m. near Greenfield and Pecos roads.


Police say a pickup truck that was going north on Greenfield Road swerved into oncoming southbound traffic, smashing into a four-door sedan. The driver of the sedan, a 40-year-old woman, died on scene. However, medics admitted the driver of the pickup truck, a 39-year-old woman, to a hospital for slight injuries.

Authorities shut down the road for several hours. Later, they opened it again for traffic at after 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Officials have not disclosed names of victims. As of now, it is not clear why the driver drifted into oncoming traffic or whether police will frame any charges.
