Lanes reopened after a crash on westbound I-20 in Smith County (Tyler, TX)

Various westbound lanes were closed down on Interstate 20 after a crash Friday morning in Smith County.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the scene, east of Tyler after getting reports of a traffic accident just before 4:45 a.m. The events that have led up to the accident remain unknown at this time. It is also unclear if anyone was injured.

Both westbound lanes of I-20 were closed near Mile Marker 757 due to the crash. Traffic was rerouted onto the shoulder for passing near the Barber Road exit. DPS troopers urged motorists to use caution when approaching this area.

The lanes were later reopened and the scene was cleared. Traffic was still moving slowly through the area. No other details are available.

An investigation is underway.
