A juvenile driver suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash involving a Can-Am UTV on May Road near Smithton, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's online crash report.

The crash happened at 2:10 p.m. on Aug. 1 at 32991 May Road in Pettis County, the patrol said. The UTV was traveling west at the time of the crash, according to the preliminary report.

The young driver was transported for medical treatment after sustaining serious injuries, authorities said. No other vehicles were reported involved in the crash.

Light drizzle was falling in the area at the time, according to weather data.
