According to the coroner’s office, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Arvin on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened on David Road west of Edison Road at around 6:39 a.m.
The officials stated that a Buick Rendezvous and a Toyota Matrix were involved in the head-on crash.
The driver of the Toyota traveling eastbound crashed head-on with a Rendezvous traveling westbound.
Jose Ascencion Nieto was identified as the driver of the Toyota and was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.
The driver of the Buick was identified as 66-year-old Gerardo Espinoza.
The officials are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or speed played a factor in the crash.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
