On Thursday, 74-year-old George Gulan, 77-year-old Sandra Gulan, both from Reno, and 60-year-old Wade Mitchell, from Herlong, suffered injuries following a traffic collision on US 395.
The two-vehicle crash took place before 1 p.m. at the intersection of US 395 and Red Rock Road. According to the investigation reports, George Gulan was traveling westbound in a 2008 Ford Escape on Red Rock Road approaching the US-395 crossing with Sandra Gulan. On the other hand, Wade Mitchell was heading northbound in a 2000 Subaru outback on the freeway south of Red Rock Road.
At some point of time, Gulan pulled over at a stop sign and went into the intersection. He made a left-hand turn heading to US 395 as Mitchell’s vehicle was approaching the intersection. Mitchell immediately took a left turn as a result of which the Subaru Outback collided with Ford Escape’s front end. Due to the impact, the Ford Escape spun around and ended up facing in an easterly direction and blocked the intersection.
The Subaru Outback traveled in a northwesterly direction onto the west shoulder. After that, it hit a large highway sign before it finally stopped. On arrival, emergency crews transported George Gulan, Sandra Gulan, and Wade Mitchell to Renown Medical Center with unspecified injuries. Both the occupants of the Ford were buckled up at the time of the accident, but Mitchell was not wearing a seatbelt at that time. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
