Report body
Four people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash that shut down northbound Interstate 25 near the Avenida Cesar Chavez exit in Albuquerque on Saturday evening, according to the New Mexico State Police.
Investigators said the crash involved a semi-truck and three other vehicles. Both the semi and one additional vehicle caught fire following the collision, New Mexico State Police reported. A smaller trailer involved in the crash also overturned or was otherwise compromised, spilling hay across the interstate lanes.
Emergency crews responded to the scene to treat the four injured individuals and to address the vehicle fires. The extent of the injuries has not been detailed by authorities.
The crash forced closures or slowdowns on the northbound lanes of I-25 as crews worked to clear the hay, extinguish the fires, and remove the involved vehicles from the roadway.
No fatalities were reported in connection with the crash. New Mexico State Police have not yet released additional information regarding the circumstances that led to the collision.
This report will be updated as officials release more information about the crash and its cause.
