Flammable Liquid Tanker Crashes In Scott, No Injuries Reported (Lafayette, LA)

Scott Firefighters reported a single-vehicle crash in the 100 block of Roger Road just before 2:00 p.m.

Scott Fire Chief Chad Sonnier said the crew noticed a small leak from the tanker, which was transporting an extremely flammable liquid.

The leak was located from a rear vent pipe of the truck carrying propylene oxide. Haz-Mat units from the Lafayette Fire Department responded quickly to stop the leak.

Haz-Mat units also monitored the area for contaminants to ensure a safe atmosphere.

After removing the semi-tractor and trailer from the roadway, workers transferred the hazardous materials inside the trailer into a separate trailer at a secured location.

The driver of the tractor remained unharmed.
