A vehicle crashed into the back of a one-story home Sunday in Sylmar.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle collision took place at about 6:34 p.m. in the 12200 block of Canyon Hill Avenue in the Sylmar neighborhood of Los Angeles within the San Fernando Valley. On arrival, first responders removed the driver who was briefly trapped in her vehicle. The driver was then medically examined by LAFD paramedics.
All occupants of the home were accounted for, and none had received injury. First arriving LAFD firefighters, including those specially trained and equipped in Urban Search and Rescue, stayed at the scene to assure safety and stabilize the residence pending arrival of an inspector from the city’s Department of Building & Safety.
The preliminary reports showed that the vehicle had run through a portion of a cinder block wall with adjoining fence before smashing into the home. The driver was only identified as a female. She was temporarily placed in handcuffs at the scene due to her uncooperative behavior. The driver was not detained. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
