Fatal crash on IH-20 kills John Michael Harvey, Jr., 18 (Liberty City, TX)

A deadly crash in has blocked eastbound traffic on I-20 in Gregg County.

As per authorities, at around 2:45 a.m., an 18-wheeler crashed with a passenger vehicle in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near Highway 135, around Mile Marker 584.

The fatal accident claimed life of John Michael Harvey, Jr who was 18 years old. Another vehicle involved, a 2015 Volvo truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer driven by Timothy Allen Ingalls, 58, from Bossier City, Louisiana. Mr. Ingalls Volvo has struck the 1999 Ford Explorer, driven by John Michael Harvey, Jr. As of now, officials have not shared any further details regarding the crash.

Authorities have cordoned off eastbound lanes of the interstate. However, they did not tell when the lanes will open again for traffic.

Emergency personnel are diverting traffic north of Hwy 135 to FM 1252 in the Liberty City area.

Drivers should anticipate delays.
