Emergency personnel rescued driver after truck veers off Gates Pass Road (Tucson, AZ)

Tucson emergency personnel managed to rescue a driver whose truck went off West Gates Pass Road and fell into a ravine on Wednesday.

The male driver was found in stable condition when personnel, through a Pima County Sheriff’s Department helicopter, lifted him and a rescuer using a long line. The driver was transported by a Northwest Fire District ambulance to a hospital for medical treatment, according to Tucson Fire Department.

Tucson Fire crews also helped in backing up a woman from the ravine after she had gone down the hill to check on the driver just after the crash, TFD said.  Authorities did not confirm the cause of the crash.

An investigation is underway.
