A driver was hurt after slamming his vehicle into a supermarket early Thursday morning in San Diego’s Southcrest area.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle wreck took place just after 3 a.m. in the 1400 block of S. 43rd Street. According to the witnesses, a car had just exited southbound Interstate 805 at 43rd Street but drove past the intersection at a high rate of speed. Afterwards, the car then entered a parking lot, hit signs and bushes, and then plowed into the Northgate Market building.
Following the collision, the driver managed to get out of his car with only minimal injuries to his face. The victim was shocked that the injuries were not more severe. It is unknown if alcohol was involved in the accident. Damage to the supermarket was being assessed Thursday morning. No other details are available.
The incident remains under review.
