Driver flees after a car crashes on Spokane Valley Bridge (Spokane Valley, WA)

On Thursday night, a man slammed his 2003 Honda Civic into a barrier on a Spokane Valley bridge, abandoned the car and then jumped.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place just before 6:30 p.m. east of the East Trent Avenue and North Pines Road intersection. According to the eyewitnesses, the driver jumped from the bridge and landed on the embankment, not in the Spokane River, and ran from there.

Fresh tracks were located near the bridge, but it is unclear if the tracks belong to the driver. Officials believe that the driver did not suffer major injuries from the jump as he managed to get away. The driver was not found as of approximately 9 p.m. Thursday. No other details were provided.

The incident remains under active review.
