Traffic was impacted after a crash Friday evening in Santa Clarita.
As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the area of Soledad Canyon Road near Shangri-La Drive at around 5:34 p.m. on reports of a traffic collision. According to eyewitnesses, a Ford Explorer jumped the center divider, crossed westbound lanes of traffic, and came to a stop on the shoulder next to a bus stop at the scene.
On arrival, first responders performed chest compressions on the driver of the Ford Explorer. The condition of the driver is unknown at this time. A fire hydrant was sheared due to the crash, sending water shooting several feet into the air and partially blocking the right lane of eastbound Soledad Canyon Road. The early reports showed that the driver had a medical emergency.
Soledad Canyon Road was shut down in both directions between Shangri-La Drive and Sierra Highway for an unknown duration. The identity of the victim has not been released. No further details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
