A driver was arrested after slamming his car into an unoccupied patio-dining area early Monday morning at a Gaslamp-area restaurant that was closed for the night.
As per the initial information, the traffic crash took place at around 1:45 a.m. at Operacaffe, 835 Fourth Ave. On arrival, responding officers detained the 28-year-old driver and transported him to a hospital for a precautionary evaluation.
The driver was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The identity of the suspect has not been released at this time. No further details are available.
The incident remains under investigation.
