On Sunday, one person died while seven people suffered injuries following a crash in Temecula.
As per the initial information, the fatal traffic collision was reported at about 6:25 p.m. on the intersection of California Highway 79 and Anza Road. Officials initially stated that six people were involved in the accident, but that was later updated to eight.
One child succumbed to their injuries before emergency responders arrived. Three other children and one adult suffered serious injuries while three more adults received just moderate injuries. All of the patients were rushed to area hospitals, and one of the children was airlifted by helicopter.
At this time, it is unknown how many vehicles in total were involved in the wreck, but reports revealed that at least two vehicles, a pickup truck and one other vehicle were found at the scene. Anza Road was shut down in both directions as crews worked at the scene. No further details were provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
