Authorities identified 64-year-old Carlos Soliman, of Sunnyside, who died of injuries suffered after a fatal crash Friday that also killed 72-year-old Leonard Wallingford and his wife 72-year-old Yolanda Martinez near Granger.
The fatal two-vehicle accident took place at around 1:15 p.m. near the intersection of Yakima Valley Highway and Dekker Road. According to the investigation reports, 32-year-old Usbaldo Santillan, of Toppenish was driving a 2014 Chevrolet pickup west on Yakima Valley Highway when he went over the center line and collided head-on with a 1996 Chevrolet pickup driven by Leonard Wallingford of Sunnyside.
Wallingford and his wife, Yolanda Martinez succumbed to their injuries at the scene. A third person, Carlos Soliman, died later that night at a local hospital. Soliman was a passenger in Wallingford’s vehicle. Santillan was transported by family with minor injuries to a local hospital. All the victims were buckled up at the time of the wreck. Officials believe that intoxicants did not play a factor in the crash. No other details were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
