A 69-year-old Liberal man died after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck on Route K in Liberal on Oct. 2, according to a preliminary report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at approximately 10:55 a.m., the patrol said. A 2017 Ford F250 and a Dynacraft BSC pedal bicycle were both traveling westbound on Route K when the collision occurred, per the agency's preliminary crash report.

The bicyclist, identified only as a 69-year-old male resident of Liberal, was transported for medical treatment but did not survive his injuries, the Highway Patrol reported.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D is investigating the crash, which has been logged under incident number 260419128.

No additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision have been released.
