Authorities identified 69-year-old Elizabeth Peterson who died in a two-vehicle accident (Turnerville, GA)

Authorities identified 69-year-old Elizabeth Peterson, of Clarkesville, as the woman who lost her life after she attempted to drive across Ga. 15 in northern Habersham County On Monday afternoon.

As per the initial information, the fatal incident took place just after 5 p.m. The investigation reports showed that Elizabeth Peterson, 69, was heading west on Tom Born Road near Turnerville. The reports further revealed that she stopped at the intersection of Tom Born and Ga. 15, but did not yield to traffic before she tried to cross the northbound lanes of the highway. Just then, a northbound Ford F-250 hit Peterson’s Honda CR-V in the driver’s side door.

Due to the impact, both the passenger car and the truck were propelled north on Ga. 15 before they left the shoulder and struck a guardrail. On arrival, paramedics rushed Peterson to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, where she later succumbed to her. The driver of the truck remained unharmed in the collision.

An investigation continues.
