Authorities named 36-year-old Richard Zuniga, 32-year-old Jacob Rolon, and 63-year-old Alexander Smiller, three men who lost their lives in a hit-and-run crash on Brookhurst Street and Orange Avenue on early Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at about 2:50 a.m. at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Orange Avenue. On arrival, authorities found an abandoned white Mercedes-Benz engulfed in flames and a black Kia. Officials declared the three men in the Kia deceased on the spot while the female driver of the Mercedes and her two passengers fled the scene with injuries.
As per reports, a “good Samaritan” transported the suspects of the Mercedes to a local hospital. Police considered the accident as a hit-and-run, that is until the relationship and motive of the “good Samaritan” and the two women can be found out. Bystanders told that the women seemed to be disoriented and they had to help get them out of the Mercedes that caught fire.
Authorities believed that the Kia was exiting a parking lot onto Orange before the accident. Officers did not confirm the cause that led to the deadly wreck at this time. Investigators shut down the Brookhurst Street between Orange Avenue and Broadway.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
