On Thursday, officials identified 59-year-old Edward Ruiz, from Ramona, as the man who lost his life following a crash on April 1, 2022.
The fatal single-vehicle accident took place along State Route 67, just south of Foster Truck Trail. The investigation reports showed that Edward Ruiz was heading southbound in his pickup truck along State Route 67, just south of Foster Truck Trail. For unknown reasons, his vehicle veered off the roadway and hit a rock, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times.
Authorities responded to the scene after a passerby called 911 for help. On arrival, responders rushed the victim to a local hospital, where he was placed in the intensive care unit. Ruiz succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday after his condition had been deteriorating since the collision. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
