Authorities identified 37-year-old Anthony Boyd Jr. who died in a fatal motorcycle crash (Cerritos, CA)

Authorities identified 37-year-old Anthony Boyd Jr., a Long Beach resident, who lost his life in a fatal motorcycle crash on early Sunday morning, according to the coroner’s office.

The incident was reported at around 2:35 a.m. Sunday on the westbound Artesia Freeway, west of Shoemaker Avenue, as per CHP Officer K. Beavers.

Eyewitnesses informed the CHP that the motorcyclist now identified as Boyd was steering his 2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 westbound in the fast lane at a speed over 80 mph when he swerved to the right and struck the back of a 2013 Ford driven in the No. 2 lane at about 50 mph by an Arcadia man, Beavers said. Boyd was declared deceased at the scene.
