Authorities identified 32-year-old Raul Bustamante, of Antioch, as the man who lost his life after he slammed his car into an empty parked vehicle Saturday on the shoulder of State Highway 24 in Orinda.
The investigation reports showed that Raul Bustamante crashed into the parked Dodge Challenger just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The reports further revealed that Bustamante was driving a Toyota Avalon east on the highway when the fatal incident happened just west of the St. Stephens Drive exit.
It is still unknown why Bustamante lost control of his car. Toxicology results will determine whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident. No other details are available.
An investigation continues.
