Authorities identified 23-year-old Layne Alexander Watkins who died in a single-vehicle crash on US 79 (Hutto, TX)

Authorities identified 23-year-old Layne Alexander Watkins, of Hutto, as the man who lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on US 79 while his passenger was left in a hospital.

Watkins succumbed to his injuries at the crash scene. The investigation reports showed that Watkins was going west on US 79 in a Ford F-150 pickup truck when the vehicle ran off the westbound edge of the roadway for unknown reasons, overcorrected, flipped over and slammed into a tree.

The reports also mentioned that a 19 year-old male passenger was taken to Seton Medical Center in Round Rock with non-incapacitating injuries. The identity of the injured victim is undisclosed at this time.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
