Authorities identified 18-year-old Caimar Coleman who died in a fiery car crash on Highway 4 (Hercules, CA)

Authorities publicly identified 18-year-old Caimar Coleman as the man who lost his life in a fiery car crash on state Highway 4 in Hercules last month following an extensive process, authorities said.

On Monday, the Contra Costa County coroner’s office named him as 18-year-old Caimar Coleman, a resident of Oakley. Coleman was killed on June 23 when the blue 2008 Toyota Scion XB he was drove lost control on westbound Highway 4 just as it arrived at the transition ramp to eastbound Interstate 80. The car veered off the freeway and burst into flames as a result of the crash, the CHP said.

He was the 11th casualty this year in a crash on Highway 4. An 18-year-old woman from Hercules who was a passenger sustained major injuries in the crash but was expected to be fine, authorities added. Rescue personnel had to use tools to get her out of the wreckage; the CHP stated that rescue personnel performed life-saving medical measures on her at crash scene.
