Authorities identified 10-year-old Olivia Johnson who died after an auto-pedestrian crash in San Diego (San Diego, CA)

Officials identified 10-year-old Olivia Johnson as the girl who lost her life after getting hit by a vehicle Thursday morning in San Diego.

The fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 9:50 a.m. on Interstate 8. The early reports showed that the girl was trying to cross the freeway when a car hit her. The girl died of her injuries at the scene. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

Authorities are trying to find out why the girl was on the freeway. The victim’s city of residence is unknown at this time. No additional details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
