Authorities say no one has sustained serious injuries after an accident involving a school bus in Spanish Springs on early Thursday morning.
The Washoe County School District says that the bus was carrying 15 students when the crash took place, but thankfully only slight injuries are reported. Nevada Highway Patrol states that the bus rear-ended a car as part of a chain reaction crash. Authorities received reports of the crash at around 8:45 a.m. about one mile north of Calle de la Plata and Pyramid Highway.
WCSD transported the students to Alice Taylor Elementary School and notified parents regarding the crash. All the children are fine and scheduled to take classes. Several agencies responded to the wreck, including NHP, Sparks Police, WCSD Police and Sparks Fire. NHP says that drugs, alcohol and speeding did not contribute to the crash. The highway remains open for traffic.
An investigation is underway.
