An 18-year-old woman lost her life in a hit-and-run crash on 60 Freeway near Markland Avenue (Montebello, CA)

A hit-and-run crash claims life of an 18-year-old woman on 60 Freeway near Markland Avenue at around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

As per reports, the 18-year-old woman got out of a car and walked on the freeway and possibly walked across the lanes when a vehicle struck her. CHP said that another vehicle hit the woman and fled from the scene before the arrival of authorities. Officials believed that three young people were with the victim who reportedly escaped from the scene after the incident.

Officers do not have any description of the hit-and-run vehicle at this time. Authorities shut down the westbound lanes of the freeway for a few hours. All lanes have long since reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
