An 11-year-old dead and two teenagers injured after a car crash in NELA (Monroe, LA)

On Monday, an 11-year-old juvenile, from Trout, was killed and two others suffered injuries following a single-car crash in NELA.

Officers quickly responded to Louisiana Highway 773 just before 9:00 p.m. after getting reports of a deadly accident. The early reports showed that a 2014 Chevrolet Caprice, driven by a 17-year-old juvenile, was going northbound on Louisiana Highway 773 when the vehicle ran off the roadway and hit multiple trees.

The 11-year-old juvenile, who was wearing a seatbelt, received major injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The 17-year-old driver, who was reportedly restrained, and a 15-year-old passenger, who was unrestrained, both suffered moderate injuries. On arrival, medics transported both the teens to a local hospital for treatment. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
