The Texas Department of Transportation(TxDOT) has revealed that there have been over 634,000 accidents that have occurred in the state of Texas in 2022. This is followed by failure to yield and unsafe lane changes. Following a car too closely as well as driver inattention are also among the top causes. They have also reported that drivers between the ages of 18 to 34 were most often killed in these crashes. 43% of the fatalities were influenced by no one wearing a seatbelt. 

The TxDOT has given out a list of the most dangerous cities in Texas. The list is topped by Houston. The reports have revealed that more than 75,000 of the total number of accidents in Texas have occurred in Houston. The city also holds the topmost position for fatalities and serious injury crashes. On average, there are at least 4 deaths a week in Houston due to car crashes and the most common cause of these fatalities is reckless driving. 

Houston is followed by Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and Fort Worth in decreasing order of the most number of accidents.
