A wrong-way crash killed 1 person on Interstate 40 in Humphreys County (Humphreys County, TN)

On Friday morning, a man lost his life while a woman suffered injuries following a wrong-way accident on Interstate 40 East in Humphreys County.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place near mile marker 145 at 6 a.m. The early reports showed that one of the vehicles was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. The man driving the vehicle in the wrong direction collided with another vehicle.

On arrival, emergency personnel rushed the man to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. A woman in the vehicle that got struck was also transported to the hospital. Her current condition is unknown at this time. No additional details were provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
