A woman died after a fiery single-vehicle accident on Gulf Freeway feeder near Beltway (Houston, TX)

On Friday, a woman was killed after her car burst into flames when she slammed into a pillar off the Gulf Freeway near the Beltway.

Eyewitnesses reported to the authorities that the woman was speeding before the crash. As per the investigators, she was attempting to exit the freeway but ended up hitting a pillar in the HOV lane. The vehicle exploded into flames following the collision. Good Samaritans tried to rescue the female victim, but they couldn’t get to her.

She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The crash reportedly did not involve any other vehicles. One southbound lane of the Gulf Freeway is blocked as well as the entire service road near the Scarsdale exit as crews work at the scene. Police said that the service road should open again soon.

The cause of the crash remains under review.
