A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Las Vegas valley (Las Vegas, NV)

On Monday evening, an auto-pedestrian accident claimed the life of one person in the Las Vegas valley.

As per the initial information, officers quickly responded to the area of Tropicana and Torrey Pines at about 7:04 p.m. after getting reports of a crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that an adult pedestrian was trying to cross Tropicana when they got hit by a Kia going westbound. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The adult male driver of the Kia initially drove away but returned to the scene approximately 30 minutes later and was arrested by the officers. The driver was suspected to be impaired at the time of the accident. Tropicana was shut down in both directions between Rainbow and Torrey Pines as crews worked at the scene.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating the crash.
