A vehicle hit and took the life of a pedestrian in Sacramento (Sacramento, CA)

On Monday morning, one person was killed after getting struck by a vehicle in Sacramento.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at about 4:45 a.m. on Watt Avenue and Lynne Way. The preliminary investigation showed that a vehicle hit a pedestrian who was walking along the roadway. According to the driver, the pedestrian suddenly walked into oncoming traffic and got hit.

The pedestrian succumbed to their injuries after the crash. Watt Avenue was partially closed for two hours as crews worked at the scene, but has since reopened. The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle is unlikely to face charges. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
