A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in Vancouver (Vancouver, WA)

On late Monday, one person died after getting struck by a vehicle in Vancouver.

As per the initial information, officers quickly responded to the area of Interstate 5 just north of the Interstate 5 Bridge in Vancouver at 8:19 p.m. after getting reports of an auto-pedestrian crash. The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene after the collision.

Officials shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 just north of the Interstate 5 Bridge as crews worked at the scene. Southbound traffic was redirected from Interstate 5 to state Highway 14. It is unknown when the southbound lanes will reopen to traffic. No further details were provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
