A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in the Westwood area of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)

One person was killed after getting struck by a vehicle Monday night in the Westwood area of Los Angeles.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place moments before 10:30 PM on the southbound side of the 405 Freeway in the Westwood area. The early reports showed that a vehicle hit a pedestrian for reasons that are yet to be known. It is unknown why the pedestrian was on the freeway, officials stated.

It is also unclear if the vehicle that hit the pedestrian remained at the scene or not after the collision. Officials partly shut down 405 Freeway in the Westwood area that led to heavy traffic. Officers urged motorists to take an alternate route. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
