A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in NE Austin (Austin, TX)

On Sunday afternoon, one person was killed after being struck by a vehicle in NE Austin.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place in the southbound lane of Highway 183 between I-35 and Highway 290. On arrival, officers found a body on the roadway. The person was declared dead at about 4:17 p.m.

Traffic was rerouted to the frontage road at the Cameron Road exit. The southbound ramp from Interstate 35 to southbound Highway 183 was shut down as crews worked at the scene. The scene was later cleared, officials reported. No other details are made available.

The crash remains under investigation.
