A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in Boyle Heights (Los Angeles, CA)

On Tuesday morning, one person died after being hit by a vehicle in Boyle Heights.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place on the southbound 5 freeway near Lorena Street a little before 3 a.m. The early reports showed that a vehicle struck a person for reasons that are yet to be known. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.

The driver of the involved vehicle stayed at the scene. Authorities announced a Sig Alert and all southbound lanes of the 5 freeway were temporarily closed, but have since reopened. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
