A vehicle hit and killed a man who stepped out of his SUV on freeway in Mission Valley (San Diego, CA)

On Saturday evening, a man lost his life after he stepped out of an SUV on Interstate 8 in the Mission Valley East area of San Diego and was struck by at least one vehicle.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash was reported at 7:13 p.m. on the westbound I-8 at Texas Street/Qualcomm Way. An eyewitness informed the CHP that a man came out of a blue SUV that was pulled over on the right shoulder before he was hit by a vehicle.

The early reports showed that a box of wine and other debris were found in freeway lanes. It is not known if any drivers stopped to aid in the investigation. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
