A vehicle hit and killed a child in northwest Las Vegas (Las Vegas, NV)

A child died after being struck by a vehicle in the northwest Las Vegas.

Authorities got the reports of a crash just before 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of W. Tropical Pkwy and Centennial Center Blvd. The preliminary investigation revealed that the minor was crossing Centennial Center Blvd eastbound against a do-not-walk pedestrian signal.

Just then, a 2020 Ford Fusion was heading northbound in the left of two northbound travel lanes when the vehicle hit the pedestrian who was trying to cross in front of it. The front of the car hit the kid, propelling him forward and onto the roadway.

The boy suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to University Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. Officials did not report any other injuries. The driver of the Ford stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers.

Metro police are investigating the crash.
