A two-vehicle collision killed 1 person in Houston (Houston, TX)

On Wednesday morning, one person died after a two-vehicle accident in Houston.

The fatal car crash took place at about 5:20 a.m. at the intersection of Blalock and Campbell in the Spring Branch area. The preliminary investigation showed that a Toyota Corolla and a Chevrolet Silverado failed to yield at the intersection, where the traffic light was out due to Hurricane Nicholas.

Reports further added that the Chevy was heading northbound when it crashed into the passenger side of the Toyota, which was heading eastbound. Officials mentioned that city utility workers were working to get traffic lights back on in the area, but they were facing delays as CenterPoint works to restore power after Tuesday’s storm.

There were four passengers in the Toyota, whereas the driver of the Chevy was the only occupant. The front seat passenger of the Toyota was declared dead at the scene. It is unknown if the other passengers suffered injuries as a result of the crash.

Officers believe that alcohol was not involved in the accident and the traffic light not working and reduced visibility might have caused the collision. No charges have been filed as of now.

An investigation is continuing.
