On Saturday night, an 18-year-old woman lost her life while five others suffered injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Paris Road.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at about 11:46 p.m. in the 2400 block of Paris Road (I-510) near the Michoud area of New Orleans East. The preliminary investigation showed that the driver of a Sedan going southbound on the roadway failed to maintain control of the car. The vehicle then went into the path of an SUV heading northbound and both vehicles collided with each other.
The force of the collision ejected an 18-year-old woman, who was the back seat passenger of the Sedan. She died of her injuries at the crash scene. There were three occupants in both the vehicles at that time. Medics transported the five other victims to the hospital for treatment. There is no information available about the conditions of the victims at this time.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
