On Friday morning, three people lost their lives following a two-vehicle accident on Weedpatch Highway while Marcia Luqueleyson was placed under arrest on suspicion of drunken driving.
The fatal car crash took place shortly before 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Weedpatch Highway and Smith Road. On arrival, officers found people pinned inside the vehicle and bystanders were trying to extricate them.
The early reports showed that a Jeep Cherokee driven by 38-year-old Marcia Luqueleyson went from the southbound lane into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a Toyota Corolla.
Two passengers in Luqueleyson’s vehicle, as well as the driver of the Corolla, were declared dead at the scene. Luqueleyson sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kern Medical. She has been placed under arrest. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
